The age of stupid

Our media group visited cinema city to watch the premier of 'the age of stupid,' and then had a question time with the director, a member of another high school, another member involved in the film and a memeber of the city council. Cinema city has a reputation of being a 'indie' cinema shownig artistic films and covering new directors. The film we watched was displayed to us in a post-modern way, starring Pete Postelwait as obnne of the few surviving humans in the world in 2055. He has stored every ounce of film and television, animal, paitning, book and music onto one huge database storage system. The fiml itself did contain post-modern qualities in the way it was layed out. The film i found was more interesting than other films based apon global warming because of the modrrn twists it contains, also because it included actual news and life story footage i felt i was able to relate to it more.
The postmodern qualities in the film was mainly the way it was set out, because everything was meant to be on a giant dadbase then he used 'touchscreen' computer element but it was like we were seeing it fromt the other side of the screen. Also his ability to fast forward and rewind allowed us to take in information that we had missed but also to reinforce the point. The post-modern element was really effective because it gave a whole new insight to the film. Had it just been global warming then media students may not have taken too much of an interest but because of it's post-modern elemtents we were also greatly intesrested in the film.
The question time after the film was more focused on the enviromental side of tings such as the people they'd interviewed and the progress on the people they'd filmed so i didn't take very much from that. Our group leader did ask as the whether they were holding a competition to allow young people to make their own films in comparision to the film and the director later got in contact with her asking her if she'd like to take part.
The film did give me an inside to post-modern techniques in film and has been an eye opener and looking at the difference between standard and post-modern films
